Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
― E.L. Doctorow
When there’s flooding any trip is interrupted so it’s a good time to read. And to write. I may even sort out a closet too. Probably not.
I published a book this week. What a push it was. It’s an e-book co-authored with a personal development coach in the UK. I was Charles Bentley’s client in the late 1990s back when he was called a life coach. We started to write a book but I didn’t have a clue about how to then, and life happened, as it does. In 2010 we reconnected electronically although I still haven’t seen Charles face-to-face since way back then.
Collaboration is rewarding but challenging, especially over such a long distance. I am proud of our book. It’s called Navigational Tips For Living In An Imperfect World
(We’re all right as we are, if only we knew it!) It has lovely little drawings in it too, drawn by cartoonist, Roger Beale, whom I worked with in London.
The book contains a global positioning system for navigating your own, perfectly valid pathway through an imperfect world. It’s only on Lulu as yet but in a couple of weeks I will have copies here and it will also start to be listed as an e-book on Amazon and all of the e-bookstores.
Most of us have all the knowhow and skills we need to live our lives effectively but sometimes we forget we have them, or we just need to be shown how to use them more efficiently. The link to the book is here . It’s going to be about $12 in Australia and less for an e-book. For people who see me it will be easiest to pick up a signed copy when you see me next, or at least soon.
Publishing a book is a bit like having a baby. It involves pushing and a bit of screaming at other people and them screaming at you. Then it’s out. And you (almost) forget the pain. It’s a good thing to do. The book is only making its baby steps yet. Watch this space for more launch details.
